A few years ago I purchased a friend's computer. He was a Garmin user and the computer was loaded with Topo Canada, Metro Guide. Timro Ek Muskan Ma.
Trip and Waypoint Manager, Roads and Recreation etc. He also gave me the Cd's for these software programmes and I have loaded them onto my most recent computer and up dated the basic Trips and Waypoints through the Garmin website.
Up until now I have only referenced these maps from the computer or printed out relevant sections for use on my excursions. Now, however, I have just purchased a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSX and would like to interface it with the computer and download maps to the unit. Do I need to wipe the slate clean and start all over? Or would I be able to use the setup that is already on my computer. Is the Trips and Waypoint CD I got with my unit keyed to that specific unit? From things I have read I am afraid to try a map transfer. I would certainly not want to render my unit inoperative.
